Doug Wallace

Associate Director

Doug has more than 20 years’ experience in structural engineering and design management.

He has experience on a wide range of project types ranging from high rise commercial and residential developments to smaller scale projects including domestic houses. He has worked in a variety of locations including London, San Francisco and Hamburg. This experience has given Doug a wealth of knowledge to draw upon, particularly in a multi-discipline design environment.

He has advanced skills in Building Information Modeling (BIM), pushing the boundaries on optimisation of design and modeling software interoperability as well as engineering parametric smarts available within the Revit program.

Doug has a personal interest in architecture and enjoys pushing the structural design on each project to provide design solutions that are structurally efficient and economical, and that achieve the architectural vision. Doug holds a master’s degree in seismic design and has presented at several conferences.

What can you not do without?

What’s the best place you’ve travelled to?

Can’t go past Barcelona and northern Spain. Great beaches, amazing food and classic architecture.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A fighter pilot! Top Gun grabbed my imagination and I dreamed of hurtling through the skies.

Do you play any sports?

Love running and cycling. I’ve run quite a few marathons, here and overseas. The New York Marathon was a highlight.

Do you have any phobias?

Moths (the big ones). Not sure why. Must’ve had a bad experience as a baby or something. Can’t sleep with a moth in the room!

Are you a dog person or a cat person?

Definitely dog
